The Susquehanna Regional Transportation Authority is seeking a qualified Transit Driver to join our team. This role plays a critical part in helping us achieve our mission of mobility, which goes beyond just getting people from point A to point B.

As a Transit Driver, you will operate a van/bus to transport passengers safely and courteously according to the daily manifest. You will be responsible for defensive driving and responding to emergency situations to ensure the safety of passengers and the general public.

Your duties will include completing vehicle inspections, maintaining accurate records, assisting passengers as needed, receiving and accounting for fares, radio communications, following emergency procedures, and other activities assigned by your Site Manager or Operations Supervisor.

This position reports to the Site Manager/Operations Supervisor and receives training, general supervision, and works according to standards.

You must have the ability to apply critical thinking and common sense understanding to carry out transportation services. You should also possess knowledge of safe driving practices and demonstrate the ability to operate and drive transit vehicles in a safe manner.

In addition, you should be able to actively listen, communicate effectively, and follow oral and written instructions given in English.

To qualify for this position, you must meet hiring qualifications, including being at least 21 years old, having an acceptable driving record, and passing background verification in accordance with SRTA standards.

Non-CDL Operators must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license that is not under suspension or revocation and have current automobile insurance coverage. You must also have a valid DOT medical card, as this is a safety-sensitive position subject to US DOT Drug and Alcohol pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, and return-to-duty testing.
