Position Overview:

The Housekeeping Team Leader plays a crucial role in managing and coordinating housekeeping activities within assigned areas. This position entails conducting thorough inspections of guest accommodations to ensure they adhere to cleanliness standards, assisting Room Attendants as needed, and delivering essential training. Additionally, the Housekeeping Team Leader is responsible for fulfilling the duties of the Housekeeping Manager during their absence.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 to 3 years of progressive experience in the hospitality sector or a related field is essential.
  • A High School diploma or equivalent qualification is mandatory.
  • Some college coursework relevant to the industry is beneficial.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory capacity is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with guests and colleagues in a professional and service-oriented manner.
  • Comply with attendance policies, which may vary based on operational needs.
  • Maintain a high standard of personal grooming by wearing the designated uniform and name tag while on duty.
  • Ensure adherence to company standards and regulations to foster a safe and efficient hotel environment.
  • Regularly evaluate the performance of staff in designated areas to ensure compliance with standards and productivity expectations.
  • In the absence of the Housekeeping Manager or Assistant Housekeeping Manager, inspect all VIP rooms and communicate their status to the Front Office.
  • Oversee the orderly closure of floors at the end of each day, ensuring that Room Attendants' carts are clean and stocked appropriately.
  • Complete and submit daily assignment records to the Housekeeping Office in a timely manner.
  • Manage the control of keys within the designated system.
  • Provide supervision to Laundry and Housekeeping staff, holding them accountable for their performance.
  • Document instances of inadequate work performance, misconduct, excessive absenteeism, tardiness, and inappropriate attire.
  • Manage 'Lost and Found' items according to established procedures.
  • Familiarize yourself with all company policies and House Rules.
  • Ensure staff consistently demonstrate attentiveness, friendliness, helpfulness, and courtesy towards guests, management, and colleagues.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, appearance, and orderliness of the staff areas.
  • Carry an active communication device to stay in contact with the Front Office and/or Engineering throughout the shift.
  • Supervise daily task assignments to ensure each Room Attendant and House Attendant has clear responsibilities.
  • Monitor the cleanliness and organization of Room Attendants' carts, linen closets, control closets, stairways, and landings.
  • Provide daily updates on all out-of-order rooms under the jurisdiction of the Housekeeping Department to the Guest Services Manager.
  • Initiate work orders for repairs and maintenance as necessary, ensuring their completion.
  • Oversee the effective training of Room Attendants.
  • Motivate, coach, and counsel staff members as needed.
  • Collect keys and assignment sheets at the end of each shift.
  • Participate in mandatory meetings as directed by management.
  • Ensure the completion of regular maintenance and cleaning projects semi-annually.
  • Monitor all VIP guests, special requests, and unique guest needs.
  • Carry out any additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
