Position Summary:

The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for capturing x-ray images of specific areas of the human body for diagnostic evaluation while providing essential support to the imaging department. This role focuses on performing plain films and fluoroscopy.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Communicates procedures to patients to ensure clarity and understanding, providing relevant educational materials.
  • Facilitates patient transport to and from clinical areas, confirming patient identity in accordance with established protocols. Assists in preparing patients for radiological examinations by positioning them appropriately.
  • Supports technologists with filing, delivering, and retrieving patient reports and charts, ensuring accurate matching of films to folders.
  • Adheres to radiation safety protocols to minimize unnecessary exposure for patients.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media and medications within the scope of practice and regulatory guidelines.
  • Monitors patients during procedures, reporting any unusual occurrences and suggesting protocol improvements as necessary.
  • Ensures high-quality submission of all images and documentation to PACS, maintaining accuracy in lead markers and patient data.
  • Checks equipment functionality and reports any malfunctions to the appropriate personnel, ensuring proper safety measures are taken.
  • Maintains a clean and organized department, including procedure rooms and storage areas.
  • May perform limited CT procedures in emergency situations when a CT Technologist is unavailable.
  • Operates in a state of alertness and safety at all times.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements:

  • Associate's degree or completion of a radiology certification program.
Experience Requirements:

  • No prior experience is necessary.
Physical Demands:

  • Regular standing and walking.
  • Frequent visual acuity and depth perception for close and distant tasks.
  • Frequent auditory communication for sharing information.
  • Regular lifting and moving of patients and objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasional lifting of objects weighing between 25-50 lbs.
  • Frequent use of hands for reaching, gripping, and data entry.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, and repetitive movements.
