Key Responsibilities

The RN Team Leader serves as both a formal and informal leader within the unit. This role involves collaborating with management to facilitate daily operations and coordinate the work of the assigned unit. Responsibilities include delegating patient care based on skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal responsibility, and resource availability. The Team Leader is responsible for guiding nursing care, which encompasses direct patient care, education for patients and families, and managing transitions of care. This position supports professional nursing practices across various settings to address the needs of patients and their families. The Team Leader operates within the Mayo Nursing Care Model, ensuring accountability for all aspects of nursing care for assigned patients, in accordance with the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice.

This position is eligible for TN sponsorship, contingent upon state licensure and completion of the VisaScreen or equivalent certification.

Qualifications

Must be a graduate of a baccalaureate nursing program.

Preferred: At least one year of RN experience in a relevant care environment.

Additional Qualifications:

Experience in a collaborative team setting.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team, making informed decisions and directing patient flow to optimize unit efficiency.

Demonstrated leadership capabilities, effective communication skills, and strong critical thinking abilities.

Flexibility to adapt to changing situations within the workplace.

Proficient computer skills are necessary; prior experience with electronic medical records is preferred.

Preferred: Knowledge and proficiency in the specialty area of the work unit.

Willingness to work flexible hours, typically Monday through Friday, with potential on-call responsibilities outside of standard hours.

Licensure or Certification:

Current RN licensure in Florida is required.

Basic Life Support certification must be obtained upon hire.

Additional specialty certifications or training may be required based on the work area.
