Job Overview

We are seeking a seasoned mechanical engineer with expertise in HVAC systems to join our team of engineering professionals serving our Government and Commercial programs. As a key member of our team, you will apply critical thinking skills to initial planning, procurement support, plan development, design, construction, and commissioning phases of projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply creative problem-solving skills to resolve complex issues in HVAC systems
  • Experience in HVAC, ASHRAE, SMACNA, and ACGIH codes
  • Building load calculation software experience, including Trane Trace or Carrier HAP
  • Duct sizing and pressure drop calculations
  • HVAC equipment sizing and specifications, including AHUs, DX units, chillers, pumping systems, cooling towers, boilers, and heat exchangers
  • Broad application of principles, theories, and concepts in HVAC and mechanical engineering, with working knowledge of other related fields
  • Work with young engineering team members, providing oversight and training
  • Provide resolution to a diverse scope and range of complex problems, analyzing data and evaluating identifiable factors
  • Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
  • Develop project design basis, develop specifications, and perform detailed engineering
  • Ensure conformance to applicable engineering codes and standards, as well as company policies and procedures
  • May perform in project leadership roles or supervise the activities of lower-level personnel
  • Contribute to a team environment, performing detailed technical analysis of complex project issues
  • Break complex technical tasks into manageable subtasks
  • Travel to site locations to provide engineering support, meetings with clients, and meetings at other company offices to support engineering efforts
Basic Qualifications
  • Requires a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 10+ years of related experience
  • Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and technical engineering software, with some CADD experience (AutoCAD, REVIT, and/or MicroStation)
  • Good verbal and writing skills
  • Candidates must be willing to travel for infrequent field assignments
  • Mechanical, plumbing experience is a plus
  • Nuclear experience is a plus
  • Field experience is a plus
  • Construction experience and certifications are a plus
  • Must be a US Citizen and be able to pass a background check to gain access to government facilities
  • PE is a requirement
  • Certified Energy Manager is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and in a diverse team setting
  • Willingness to work across engineering disciplines
  • Strong multitasking skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
