Job Summary

The Senior Development Coordinator is a critical member of the Fund for Johns Hopkins Medicine (FJHM) Central team, responsible for providing high-level administrative support to the Senior Director and Director of Principal Gifts Strategy. This role involves managing the FJHM leadership acknowledgement process, processing contributions, and drafting acknowledgements for central donors.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Learn about the institutional mission and the case for the philanthropic support of general institutional priorities as they arise.
  2. Provide comprehensive administrative support to the team's Senior Director and Director of Principal Gifts Strategy, including calendar management, meeting logistics, running reports, file and document organization, drafting agendas, composing and editing correspondence, booking travel, ordering supplies, and tracking project results and deliverables.
  3. Manage the FJHM Leadership Gift Acknowledgment process on behalf of JHM leadership, including the Dean of the School of Medicine, Johns Hopkins Health System leadership, and Johns Hopkins University leaders.
  4. Manage the acknowledgement process for central fundraising areas like Friends of Medicine and the Johns Hopkins Hospital Department of Nursing donors.
  5. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of JHAS, our donor and prospect database, and enter action notes, solicitation approaches, and proposals for fundraisers on the team as needed.
  6. Manage administrative fundraising operations for the FJHM Central team, to include gift processing, ensuring accurate database entry and error-free deposits for contributions, tracking and creating online giving forms, managing campaigns and appeals in JHAS, and collaborating with the team's gift officers on solicitation communications.
  7. Develop a thorough working knowledge of the SAP financial system and process receipts and expense reimbursements for the FJHM Central team.
  8. Initiate prospect and donor research and risk assessment requests.
  9. Participate in the execution of events and stewardship experiences such as Live the Mission and Precision Experiences.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or graduation equivalent.
  • Five years related administrative experience, with one year experience in a development office preferred.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in institutional advancement preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality is imperative.
  • The ideal candidate will be willing to work outside of normal business hours on occasion.
  • Desired foundational competencies include: excellent organizational skills, strong computer literacy skills with the ability to learn new systems and software, expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs, strong writing, editorial, and verbal communications skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
