Position Overview:

The Nurse Manager is responsible for ensuring the provision of exceptional nursing care while overseeing the administrative functions of the surgical unit on a continuous basis. This role encompasses all responsibilities linked to the Nurse Manager position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, trains, and evaluates nursing staff performance, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and distribution in line with departmental standards.
  • Develops and manages departmental budgets, ensuring operations align with financial guidelines.
  • Maintains comprehensive operational records and gathers statistical data for both administrative and regulatory needs.
  • Coordinates and assesses nursing activities conducted for patients, ensuring effective communication with all stakeholders.
  • Establishes and nurtures communication channels between the nursing unit, medical personnel, and support departments to facilitate problem resolution and enhance quality of care.
  • Ensures that unit goals and objectives are established and executed in alignment with the broader organizational mission.
  • Fosters a safe and supportive environment that promotes high-quality patient care through evidence-based practices.
  • Upholds patient confidentiality by encouraging professional communication among staff.
  • Oversees, implements, and assesses nursing interventions and documentation processes.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in executing critical nursing skills tailored to the specific needs of the patient population.
  • Collaborates effectively with interdisciplinary teams to guarantee timely and efficient patient care.
  • Supports the professional growth of staff while being accountable for staff retention initiatives.
  • Adheres to established policies, procedures, and safety protocols, completing mandatory educational requirements annually and engaging in quality improvement efforts as needed.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:

Graduate from an accredited nursing program is required; a bachelor's degree in nursing or a related field is preferred (to be obtained within three years of assuming the position).

Experience:

A minimum of three (3) years of recent clinical experience is required, with two (2) years of leadership or managerial experience preferred.

Licensure:

Must possess and maintain a valid registered nurse license in the state of Tennessee.

RN license is mandatory.
