The Nurse Manager is responsible for ensuring the provision of exceptional nursing care and overseeing the administrative functions of the surgical unit around the clock. This role encompasses all responsibilities associated with the Nurse Manager position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruit, train, and evaluate nursing staff performance while ensuring optimal staffing levels in line with departmental standards.
- Formulate and manage departmental budgets, ensuring operations align with financial parameters.
- Maintain comprehensive operational reports and gather statistical data for both administrative and regulatory needs.
- Coordinate and assess the outcomes of nursing interventions conducted for patients.
- Foster effective communication between the nursing unit, medical personnel, and support departments to enhance problem-solving and quality improvement efforts.
- Ensure that unit goals and objectives are established and implemented in accordance with the broader organizational mission.
- Advocate for a safe working environment that promotes high-quality patient care through evidence-based practices.
- Uphold patient confidentiality by encouraging professional communication among staff.
- Oversee, implement, and assess nursing interventions and documentation practices.
- Exhibit proficiency in executing critical nursing skills tailored to the specific needs of the patient demographic served.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to guarantee timely, efficient, and effective patient care.
- Support the professional growth of staff while being accountable for retention efforts.
- Adhere to established policies, procedures, and safety protocols, completing necessary educational requirements annually. Engage in quality improvement initiatives as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Educational Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required; a bachelor's degree in nursing or a related field is preferred (to be obtained within three years of assuming the position).
Experience Requirements:
A minimum of three (3) years of recent clinical experience is required, with two (2) years of leadership or managerial experience preferred.
Licensure:
Must possess and maintain a valid registered nurse license in the state of Tennessee.
RN license is mandatory.
