The Airside and Terminal Operations department is in search of a highly qualified and experienced Lead Airside Operations Manager. The chosen candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing the Safety Management System and ensuring adherence to safety regulations. Responsibilities include collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance airport safety and maintain efficient airside operations.
In addition to managing daily airside operations, the selected individual will:
- Oversee and implement the Safety Management System (SMS) to ensure compliance with aviation safety regulations and standards.
- Identify, analyze, and mitigate safety risks associated with airside operations.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive safety training programs.
- Coordinate incident reporting and investigations.
- Work with stakeholders to improve safety practices and integrate safety data analysis for ongoing enhancement.
Responsibilities also include:
- Clarifying roles, assigning tasks, and setting expectations.
- Delivering presentations and evaluating program effectiveness.
- Managing airside mandates, regulations, and objectives.
- Ensuring proper procedures for safety compliance and inspections.
- Participating in emergency service coordination in accordance with relevant regulations.
The Lead Airside Operations Manager will also:
- Manage safety programs and maintenance of airfield infrastructure, including taxiways, signage, lighting, and spill prevention.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders to oversee aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF) contracts.
- Monitor wildlife management and conservation efforts.
- Facilitate airfield driver training.
Additionally, the role involves:
- Building partnerships and interacting with stakeholders to determine effective resolutions.
- Issuing NOTAMs and communicating operational advisories.
- Participating in the development or streamlining of programs, documents, and budgets.
- Supervising team members, providing feedback, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
Key Competencies:
- Business Process Knowledge: Ability to identify, document, and monitor processes while developing frameworks for improvement.
- Communication and Customer Focus: Proficient in exchanging information through various channels, including verbal and written communication.

Requirements:
- Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in Aviation Management or a related field.
- A minimum of five years of experience in large or medium airport operations.
- Equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Possession of a California Class C driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the Authority's vehicle insurance policy.
Preferred Qualifications/Certifications:
- American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE), AAE, ASC, or ACE OPS/SMS Certification.
Compensation: The hiring salary for the Lead Airside Operations Manager is $107,315, with a pay range of $82,550 to $132,080.
