The Master Scheduler plays a crucial role in formulating, assessing, and sustaining the comprehensive production timetable to ensure balanced workload distribution, effectively plan for our Make to Order and Make to Stock methodologies, and initiate production orders into Work In Progress (WIP). Daily coordination with production teams is essential to meet lead times, on-time delivery (OTD), inventory levels, and customer demand.

  • Development and Maintenance: Formulates, disseminates, and oversees the Master Production Schedule, ensuring a balance between inventory, resources, and capacity. Engages in negotiations for corrective measures to adjust product schedules in response to business changes.
  • Collaboration with Engineering: Partners with the engineering team to establish and uphold a capacity management tool that provides transparency regarding output limitations and aids the sales team in the quoting process.
  • Forecast Analysis: Evaluates sales forecasts and shipment history to devise a production plan for each product line that aligns with revenue objectives while minimizing inventory risks.
  • Risk Identification: Recognizes potential risks associated with the production plan, considering expedited orders, sales trends, and inventory levels.
  • Cross-Departmental Coordination: Works closely with Manufacturing, Sales, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Purchasing, and Customer Service to implement the operational strategy.
  • Communication: Ensures clear communication of master and machine-level schedules to production work centers.
  • Procedure Development: Creates and reviews scheduling procedures as necessary, ensuring they are updated regularly.
  • Work Order Management: Executes scheduling and work order releases across departments.
  • Supply Chain Coordination: Effectively communicates customer requirements to the Supply Chain to guarantee timely provision of necessary manufacturing materials and supplies.
  • Supply Analysis: Monitors supply levels against demand requirements monthly and communicates any discrepancies to the supply chain.
  • Inventory Monitoring: Oversees Kanban and safety stock levels, ensuring proper inventory to meet demand fluctuations.
  • Software Maintenance: Keeps Master Planning Schedule software current and relevant for effective planning across all locations.
  • Lead Time Communication: Communicates lead times by product category to sales, customer experience, and operations teams.
  • Team Leadership: Directly supervises and develops the Planning department to ensure timely progress of released jobs and collaborates with Customer Service to maintain order accuracy and accommodate schedule adjustments.
  • MRP Resolution: Collaborates with Supply Chain to address MRP and planning challenges.
  • Operational Solutions: Works with the operations team to develop solutions for constraints impacting the master schedule and achieving OTD targets.
  • Inventory Management: Maintains finished goods at target levels and assists in achieving inventory turnover requirements.
  • Customer Interaction: Acts as the primary contact for customers regarding delivery, stocking, and lead-time inquiries.

Qualifications, Skills and Educational Requirements


• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field is strongly preferred; a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution is required.


• Over 7 years of direct experience in scheduling utilizing MRP and MPS software.


• High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).


• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interface effectively with diverse teams.


• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.


• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.


• Committed, dedicated, and self-motivated work ethic, demonstrating full ownership of assigned projects and tasks.
