Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Imaging Technologist to join our team at Northwestern Medicine. As a Diagnostic Imaging Technologist, you will play a critical role in supporting the MRI department at Lake Forest Hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist and interact with patients of the radiology department, ensuring a positive and respectful experience.
  • Verify patient identity using two patient identifiers to maintain confidentiality and accuracy.
  • Transport patients from inpatient units and the emergency department to and from the department, ensuring timely and safe transportation.
  • Greet all patients, families, and visitors in the radiology procedure area, providing a warm and welcoming environment.
  • Maintain effective communication between patients and radiology department staff, ensuring seamless coordination and care.
  • Prepare patients for exams and escort them to the proper exam room, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.
  • Position and immobilize patients on examining tables, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Assist radiologists and technologists in acquiring quality exams, contributing to the delivery of exceptional patient care.
  • Assist with minor procedures, including disconnecting IV tubing used for contrast injection, and assist radiologists with interventional procedures.
  • Compile all radiology exams and prepare them for reading by the radiologist, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
  • Attend to the care of documents relating to patients, maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.
  • Perform various related tasks to support the effective operations of the radiology department, including preparing exam rooms, stocking and cleaning rooms after each exam, and maintaining diagnostic imaging changing areas.
  • Process requests from medical staff and internal departments for radiology films, ensuring timely and accurate fulfillment.
  • Ensure exams have been entered correctly and are tracked in the computer, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Responsible for ensuring JCAHO and Safety standards are met, adhering to all recommended Infection Control procedures.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 to 2 years specialized or technical training, or equivalent
  • Physical Demands Requirement: Physical demands required for this role include lift/carry up to 50 pounds and a push/pull force up to 50 pounds
