Job Summary

As a newly graduated registered nurse, you will have the opportunity to participate in our comprehensive residency program at Butler Hospital. This 3-month program is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed as a psychiatric staff nurse.

As a resident, you will work closely with our experienced nursing team to provide direct patient care, participate in treatment planning, and coordinate medical and nursing care. You will also have the opportunity to develop your skills in crisis management, patient education, and team collaboration.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care based on the knowledge of ANA Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing, Butler Hospital policies and procedures, and the RI Nurse Practice Act.
  • Participate in treatment planning to coordinate management of medical and nursing care and discharge planning of patients.
  • Coordinate psychiatric and/or medical emergencies in a manner that assures the individual in crisis is properly cared for and all other patients are safe.
  • Participate as an active team member by assisting other staff and accepting additional assignments to complete essential patient care and unit responsibilities.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • B.S.N. preferred.
