Objective Summary
The Production Technician is responsible for utilizing various light industrial machinery and software applications in the creation, assembly, and distribution of paper goods. This role ensures the precise and timely execution of manufacturing work orders to fulfill customer demands.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate light industrial machinery within a production setting.
- Analyze manufacturing work orders to ascertain material and order specifications.
- Adhere to established protocols for completing work orders.
- Assess equipment requirements based on work order specifications.
- Employ software tools for the setup, operation, and documentation of manufacturing processes.
- Conduct quality control checks at various stages, including first piece, work in progress, and final inspections.
- Optimize equipment usage to enhance the output of finished products and meet production targets.
- Diagnose and resolve minor equipment issues as they arise.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Support the training and mentoring of seasonal staff in best practices.
- Assist with additional fulfillment tasks such as shipping, picking, packing, and stocking as required.
- Carry out other assigned duties as necessary.
Qualifications & Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience; 3 to 6 months of relevant experience preferred.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
- Familiarity with routings and single-level bills of materials is advantageous.
- Experience with JD Edwards software is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail is essential.
- Effective collaboration with supervisors, colleagues, and floor staff to achieve company and departmental objectives.
Physical Requirements:
- Capability to lift up to 25 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally throughout the workday.
- Ability to stand and/or walk for the duration of the shift, typically ranging from 8 to 10 hours.
Travel Requirements:
No travel is required for this position.
Typical Work Schedule:
Standard business hours from Monday to Friday, typically requiring 40-45 hours per week.
FLSA Status:
This is a non-exempt position, eligible for overtime compensation.
Peak Work Periods:
Peak work periods occur from November through January, during which additional hours may be necessary, including some Saturdays.
Working Environment:
The role is set in a general warehouse environment, requiring standing for up to 100% of the time and proximity to moving machinery. The lighting and temperature conditions are adequate, with moderate noise levels near certain machines. Work involves the use of hands and fingers in conjunction with general warehouse equipment such as shrink wrap, small pack, and collator.
Scope of Accountability:
This position does not have direct reports.
