Job Title: Assistant, QC Lab

Join US Pharma Lab as a key member of our Quality Control team, responsible for maintaining the upkeep of our QC lab equipment and instruments, cleaning glassware and labware, and ensuring the proper storage and inventory of lab items.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform monthly cleaning of lab equipment, including water baths, lab sonicators, lab ovens, titrators, sieve shakers, lab washers, incubators, biosafety cabinets, and other general-use lab equipment.
  • Conduct weekly cleaning of lab benches, fume hoods, and working benches.
  • Ensure the proper storage of chemicals, reagents, and solvents in chemical cabinets and solvent cabinets.
  • Maintain accurate records of chemicals, reagents, and lab one-time use items on our computer system and perform monthly inventory checks.
  • Follow established procedures outlined by Best Practices, Standard Operation Procedures, and Work Instructions.
  • Prepare and dispose of laboratory waste, including chemical and microbiology waste, and schedule pick-ups with EHS.
  • Clean and disinfect general laboratories and other support areas according to approved procedures.
  • Wash and clean chemical lab glassware, dry them in the oven, and store them in designated areas for routine testing purposes.
  • Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications.
  • Store tested samples in the control sample area according to lab procedures.
  • Assist in moving lab instruments, equipment, or solvents from one location to another.
  • Help chemists set up dissolution test apparatus for testing.
  • Record readings from the DI water unit on a daily basis to check the quality of water.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Work in a safe and responsible manner to create an injury-free and incident-free workplace.
  • Comply with all job-related safety and other training requirements.
  • Keep management informed of area activities and significant problems.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent with science-related qualifications.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Able to read, write, and speak English sufficiently.
  • Knowledge of chemistry is a plus.
  • Meets commitments on time and practices time-management skills.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to navigate office, labs, shipping/receiving docks, stock rooms, and storage locations.
  • Uses hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate objects or controls, lifting to waist height and/or above shoulder height, frequent bending from the waist, or squatting, walking short distances and leaning over equipment as well as kneeling on the floor to clean under the equipment.
  • Extensive walking may be required.
  • Uses material handling equipment such as push carts and pallet jacks, but must be able to lift, push, and pull 30-40 pounds consistently.
  • Works in areas where chemicals, solvents, and reagents are in use.
  • Depending on the area of the building, personal protective equipment must be worn, including lab coats, coveralls, hoods, facemasks, hairnets, and safety gloves as per job requirements.
