Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Academic Chair to lead our department and contribute to the academic and operational success of our programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising faculty, managing departmental operations, and ensuring the academic quality and innovation of our programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, hire, and manage a diverse and inclusive faculty team.
  • Develop and implement a structured system for mentoring, supervising, and evaluating faculty performance.
  • Ensure faculty remain active in scholarship and service, including membership in institutional committees and professional organizations.
  • Lead student development efforts, including monitoring satisfactory academic progress and supervising departmental efforts to support student development.
  • Teach up to 12 credits per academic year, depending on level of appointment and scope of administrative responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with academic affairs leaders to lead the department in accreditation, department review, and assessment processes.
  • Ensure student concerns are effectively addressed in a timely and responsive manner.
  • Actively cultivate opportunities for students to participate in scholarship and community engagement.


Requirements:

  • A doctoral degree in the relevant discipline.
  • Licensure in the field covered by the program being administered, when available.
  • Academic administration experience, including teaching at the graduate level, and professional experience are strongly desired.
  • Years of experience: 3-5 for Department Chairs; 1-3 for Program Chairs.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • A strategic thinker who can offer innovative solutions to aid the department in its continued growth and expansion.
  • An optimistic, action-oriented leader who can motivate faculty to embrace a culture of excellence with respect to student engagement and outcomes.
