Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Anesthesia Technician to join our team at Northwell Health. As an Anesthesia Technician, you will be responsible for the operations and maintenance of anesthesia equipment, ensuring the highest level of patient safety and care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain anesthesia equipment, including monitoring equipment and anesthesia machines.
  • Assist with the preparation of anesthesia equipment, including changing anesthesia circuits, to ensure optimum patient safety and care.
  • Notify the Bio-Medical Specialist of any equipment needing repairs to ensure patient safety.
  • Take appropriate action for malfunctioning equipment and utilize resources if unable to troubleshoot the problem.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to promote positive patient outcomes.
  • Coordinate activities outside of the unit and accompany anesthesiologists and/or surgeons as needed.
  • Set up pressure transducers and ensure proper calibration of transducers and pressure modules.
  • Respond to emergency situations in the O.R. and set up emergency equipment.
  • Effectively communicate with the surgical team regarding special equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain quality control and logs, as well as records of equipment maintenance.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • American Society of Anesthesia Technologists & Technicians Certification within two years of employment, preferred.
  • BCLS Certification, preferred.
  • Prior experience working in a hospital environment, preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
