Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Investment Associate to support our Chief Investment Officer in evaluating investment opportunities, conducting market research, and preparing financial models. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background in finance, real estate, or economics, and previous experience in commercial real estate or private equity.
Key Responsibilities- Investment Evaluation
- Evaluate all investment opportunities and conduct market research to support the Chief Investment Officer's investment strategy.
- Prepare financial models and underwriting reports to support investment decisions.
- Portfolio Management
- Assist the Chief Investment Officer in managing large national portfolios and strategic corporate-level initiatives.
- Manage underwriting on large national transactions, including new investments and monetization events.
- Pipeline Management
- Enhance the efficiency of BIG's Pipeline and Investment Committee by preparing and organizing executive summaries, collecting and distributing pipeline materials, and reviewing underwriting from BIG's Analysts throughout all BIG regions.
- Constantly seek ways to improve BIG's tracking and efficiency.
- Deal Process Improvement
- Screen all new deals with oversight of the CIO to determine if they warrant further pursuit.
- Make improvements to BIG's standardized templates, including the proforma, comp tracking, market analysis, sale analysis, track record, investment memorandum documents, etc.
- Capital Markets Support
- Assist the Capital Markets team in reviewing underwriting and memos for securing Equity and Debt financing for new acquisitions and refinancing existing assets.
- Collaborate with the Due Diligence team to review underwriting prior to recommendation to the CEO and CIO to waive due diligence/closing.
- Qualifications
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in commercial real estate or private equity.
- Strong academic performance concentrating in finance, real estate, or economics.
- Previous experience with a commercial real estate/private equity firm required.
