Responsibilities
  • Pre-Examination Preparation: Ensure residents feel comfortable and at ease before their examination.
  • Instrument Sterilization: Properly sterilize dental instruments to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Initial Screenings: Conduct initial mouth screenings and check oral health history to identify potential issues.
  • Condition Identification: Identify conditions such as gingivitis, cavities, or periodontitis and provide recommendations for treatment.
  • Teeth Cleaning and Protection: Clean and protect residents' teeth by removing plaque and applying fluoride.
  • Education and Instruction: Educate residents of all ages on proper teeth care techniques, including good brushing habits.
  • Post-Procedure Instructions: Provide instructions to residents after operations or other dental procedures.
  • Treatment Recommendations: Assist dentists in selecting appropriate treatments for various diseases, including oral cancer.
  • Documentation and Charting: Maintain accurate documentation and charts on each resident.
Requirements
  • Valid License: Possess a valid Colorado Dental Hygienist License.
