Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Services Associate to join our team at Jefferson Health. As an Environmental Services Associate, you will play a vital role in maintaining a high standard of housekeeping, ensuring a sanitary, orderly, and safe patient care environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Environmental Stewardship: Establish and maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe environment in assigned work areas by following departmental policies and procedures.
  • Waste Management: Properly dispose of biohazards according to EPA and OSHA codes and regulations.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain equipment, clean carts, buckets, floor machines, other equipment, and supply closets to give the hospital a professional appearance.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Comply with established PPE requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation, and other hazardous substances.
  • Hand Hygiene: Follow hospital/departmental policy on hand hygiene.
  • Flooring Maintenance: Complete and maintain all carpet and hard surface flooring in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Safety Precautions: Observe safety precautions when pushing equipment and report faulty mechanical, structural, or electrical problems in accordance with safety policy.
  • Slip Prevention: Utilize wet floor signs to prevent slippage by patients, employees, and visitors in accordance with safety policy.
  • Customer Service: Converse with patients and visitors using scripting to establish dialogue and extend every possible courtesy.
  • Support Services: Assist with the moving of furniture, equipment, supplies, recycling, and set-ups by request of the supervisor and/or staff.
  • Communication: Respond to pages or phone calls in a timely fashion.
Requirements:
  • Education: High School Graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience: 6 months to 1 year of experience in housekeeping or cleaning in a healthcare environment preferred but not required.
