Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Welder/Technician to join our team at Interstate Waste Services. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing welding and repair tasks on various equipment and machinery.

Responsibilities
  • Perform welding and repair tasks on compactors, containers, and other equipment
  • Conduct safety checks and inspections on equipment and machinery
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks to ensure optimal equipment performance
  • Repair and maintain electrical and hydraulic systems on compactors and containers
  • Complete required paperwork and documentation for repair tasks
  • Perform service calls for compactor repair and maintenance
  • Perform related work such as flame cutting, bending, forming, beveling, and notching of metal and plastic parts
  • Work from prints, drawings, and verbal instructions to complete tasks
  • Utilize standard shop hand tools, measuring devices, and equipment to complete tasks
Requirements
  • Experience in welding processes such as MIG, stick, and torch welding on a variety of materials
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and practices necessary while operating or repairing compactors, containers, and carts
  • Skill in operating tools, equipment, parts, and procedures utilized during the repair and servicing of compactors, containers, and carts
  • Basic understanding of design techniques, principles, and tools necessary for the precise production of technical plans, drawings, models, and blueprints
  • Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in a variety of forms
  • Basic understanding of mathematics as related to welding assignments
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead
  • Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work
  • Must be able to see details at close range
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times
  • Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials
