Cold Storage Facility Operations Manager

Position Summary: Efficiently oversee and sustain the operations of the cold storage facility and its associated equipment, including HVAC and refrigeration systems, while adhering to the highest standards of safety and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guide and develop team members as necessary.
- Ensure all refrigeration apparatus, material handling tools, building infrastructure, security/fire alarm systems, and fire suppression mechanisms are functioning safely and effectively.
- Administer a proactive maintenance schedule to implement corrective measures and minimize downtime.
- Guarantee that tasks and documentation are executed meticulously, comprehensively, accurately, and punctually.
- Support the realization of corporate objectives by coordinating shared resources with other departments and locations.
- Foster a culture of cooperation and adaptability, demonstrating flexibility and a readiness to embrace change.
- Deliver outstanding customer service by cultivating effective communication with vendors and both internal and external clients.
- Oversee the work order system for general repairs and maintenance of the facility and grounds.
- Engage in the formulation of policies, procedures, goals, and objectives concerning the physical plant.
- Manage and schedule external maintenance contractors through a Request for Proposal (RFP) process, ensuring collaboration with outside vendors and regulatory agencies to maintain a safe environment for all personnel.
- Contribute to budget management to control maintenance costs and provide input on capital budget proposals in collaboration with management.
- Encourage a safe working atmosphere where employees feel a personal commitment to their safety and that of their colleagues.
- Supervise and uphold the safety and cleanliness standards of the workshop.
- Advocate for adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) within the facility, ensuring a tidy and hazard-free work environment.
- Actively participate in the investigation of incidents and near misses in a prompt and effective manner.
- Assist in the recruitment, onboarding, and training of maintenance and refrigeration personnel to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
- Monitor and manage departmental payroll, ensuring accurate timekeeping and timely submission of documentation to HR.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; further education or relevant technical training preferred.
- Experience: Proven background in HVAC/refrigeration, lift truck maintenance, and three-phase electrical systems.
- Skills: Proficient in understanding and complying with EPA and OSHA regulations, maintaining confidentiality, and providing constructive feedback. Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively are essential.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently.
- Capability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and squat frequently, as well as climb stairs and ladders in a refrigerated environment.
- Adaptability to fluctuating temperatures, including exposure to freezing conditions.
- Ability to work in a noisy warehouse setting and at heights while using appropriate personal protective equipment.
Compensation: Competitive salary range of $110,000 to $120,000.
