Reporting To: Manager, Maintenance Programs & Heavy Maintenance Planning
FLSA Status: Exempt
Position Summary: The Heavy Maintenance Planner is accountable for orchestrating the planning of aircraft heavy inspections and confirming the specifications required for each aircraft. This role involves generating maintenance proposals for heavy check bids that align with the maintenance department's needs and the relevant Inspection Program. The planner identifies necessary services or materials for the checks to fulfill company standards, ensuring all relevant tasks are incorporated into the Heavy Maintenance Visit work package.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in the company’s Safety Management System (SMS).
- Collaborate with various departments to schedule and facilitate A-Checks and higher maintenance tasks.
- Coordinate with Line Maintenance Planning to address items that may not be ready for the next heavy check, preventing overflow.
- Analyze maintenance due reports to create work orders and packages for A-Checks and above.
- Examine task cards and accurately plan for the requirements of assigned tasks within work packages.
- Execute tasks efficiently to meet deadlines and performance objectives in accordance with company policies.
- Ensure compliance with the General Maintenance Manual, company policies, and all applicable regulations, including accurate completion of related paperwork.
- Work collaboratively with multiple departments, necessitating strong communication skills.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety in work areas and manage materials effectively.
- Be accountable for the quality of work performed, ensuring all assigned tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Manager, Maintenance Programs & Heavy Maintenance Planning or the Director of Quality.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Preferred: 2 years of experience in aircraft maintenance planning.
- Preferred: Associate degree in aviation and/or FAA Mechanic certificate with Airframe and Powerplant rating.
- Preferred: 2 years of aviation maintenance experience.
- Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking) is required.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid US Passport for potential domestic and international travel.
- Must maintain a valid Driver License that meets company insurance standards.
- Professional appearance and grooming are required.
- Regular attendance and punctuality are essential.
- A positive attitude is a must.
- Successful completion of a background check, including a pre-employment drug test, fingerprinting, and criminal history records check (CHRC) is required.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong team player with a solid work ethic.
- Ability to utilize technical manuals, demonstrate mechanical aptitude, and effectively solve problems.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to existing maintenance systems and new software.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities.
Work Environment:
Office setting with varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements:
Moderate physical activity is required, including handling objects weighing up to twenty (20) pounds frequently and twenty to seventy pounds occasionally.
Travel/Other Requirements:
Minimal travel is expected.
