Assistant Manager Job Description

At Sonic Drive-In, we're looking for a talented Assistant Manager to join our team. As an Assistant Manager, you'll play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our drive-in restaurants. Your primary responsibility will be to assist the General Manager in managing daily operations, including training and supporting team members to deliver exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage, train, and monitor team members to ensure they meet operational standards.
  • Direct and assign employees as needed to ensure all aspects of food service meet operational standards.
  • Adhere to and monitor employee compliance of the employee handbook, policies, and practices.
  • Perform restaurant opening and closing duties.
  • Monitor and adjust staffing levels, inventory levels, and food cost control as needed.
  • Complete weekly inventory as required.
  • Assist with administrative duties, including maintaining files, records, and documentation.
  • Reinforce a customer service mentality and ensure all employees are focused on serving the customer at all times.
Requirements:
  • Ability to work irregular hours, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • General knowledge and understanding of the restaurant industry or retail operations required.
  • Minimum of six months of restaurant management experience (QSR) or one year entry-level retail management experience required.
  • Effective communication skills; basic math, reading, and computer skills.
  • Ability to follow directions and work with autonomy once given directions; ability to multi-task and successfully solve problems.
  • Willingness to abide by the appearance, uniform, and hygiene standards at Sonic.
