Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Early Childhood Education Specialist to join our team at Boys Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating educational and child development services, as well as administrative activities for children and their families enrolled in our Head Start programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Development and Implementation: Develop, monitor, and implement curriculum, programs, and procedures designed to meet the educational needs of all identified children enrolled at service delivery sites.
  • Center Monitoring: Monitor centers on a monthly basis to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including material and curricula aligned with the Early Learning Outcomes Framework (ELOF) and School Readiness Goals.
  • Assessment and Designation: Provide accurate assessment and designation of enrolled children, in compliance with Head Start performance standards and state and federal regulations.
  • Transitional Planning: Ensure transitional plans are developed annually and completed for all students as outlined by performance standards.
  • Consultation and Support: Serve as a consultant to teachers and other school staff for remediation of communication disorders for identified children.
  • Child and Family Support: Demonstrate concern and respect for individual children, facilitate academic and social growth of each child, and care for their health and well-being during the school day while working to engage parents or guardians.
  • Disability Services: Assess and coordinate services for enrolled children with disabilities and their parents or guardians; develop and implement plans for meeting Head Start requirements on serving children with disabilities.
  • Referrals and Reporting: Ensure appropriate and timely referrals for developmental concerns.
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Program Administration: Participate in the administration of the Head Start Education Program, collaborating with the Head Start Director to ensure that early childhood education services are implemented as identified in Head Start regulations and state standards.
  • Compliance and Reporting: Ensure all educational learning environments are in compliance with performance standards and regularly monitor data for education, providing reports monthly and as needed.
  • Information Management: Design, implement, and manage a system of information management to track student enrollment and attendance, including a system for children with disabilities.
  • Program Audits: Conduct regular program audits to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and funding guidelines, providing timely reports of proposed and adopted state and federal regulations.
  • Data Management: Utilize data (Educational Data Systems) to ensure appropriate documentation from all centers is implemented in the system.
  • Timelines and Data Updates: Monitor educational timelines and ensure data is updated in the ChildPlus.Net database system.
  • Staff Development and Certification: Oversee education teacher certification, staff development activities, and early education processing to meet state and federal guidelines.
  • Contract Management: Initiate and follow up on contracts with other school districts for services provided.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in education or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: Experience in early childhood education and supervision, including securing and individualizing needed services for children with disabilities and utilizing theories and principles of child growth and development, early childhood education, and family support.
  • Driver's License: Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record and pass an annual Motor Vehicle Registration (MVR).
  • Transportation: Ability to provide own transportation to complete travel requirements of the job and meet auto insurance requirements established by Boys Town policy and/or state and local law requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree: Master's degree in education or a related field is preferred.
