Job Title: Head Start Teacher

The Head Start Teacher is a vital member of our team at Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans, responsible for creating a nurturing and engaging environment for young children to thrive. As a Head Start Teacher, you will play a crucial role in shaping the educational and developmental experiences of our students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the Head Start Philosophy and meet the individual needs of children.
  • Ensure classroom activities are age and developmentally appropriate, and aligned with the Head Start Philosophy.
  • Build strong relationships with children, families, and staff to create a sense of community and promote a positive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and effective program that meets the needs of all children.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate records of children's progress, including screenings, assessments, and observations.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching skills and stay up-to-date with best practices in early childhood education.
  • Ensure compliance with State Licensing Regulations, Head Start Performance Standards, CACFP, and agency policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, Associate's degree, or related degree with three (3) years' experience working in Early Childhood Education.
  • Proven proficiency in verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
