Position Summary

The Mechanical Assembly Technician plays a crucial role in the assembly and installation of compressor units, utilizing specified mechanical components and assembly hardware. This position requires proficiency in using hand and power tools, as well as measuring instruments, to adhere to blueprints, sketches, and schematics. Additionally, the technician will conduct operational tests on assembled components to identify any malfunctions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute high-quality assembly of compressors, generators, and related components, ensuring alignment with customer specifications and following provided blueprints.
  • Perform overhauls and repairs on existing compressors or components as necessary to fulfill customer requirements.
  • Manage manufacturing costs effectively by utilizing supplies and equipment judiciously while meeting labor standards.
  • Prepare products for shipping by ensuring proper packaging is in place.
  • Communicate with supervisors regarding supply and tool levels to ensure smooth production flow.
  • Maintain effective communication within the department and across all company functions.
  • Adhere to safety policies and practices at all times.
  • Assist in maintaining plant facilities and equipment, which may include general cleaning and basic maintenance tasks.
  • Engage in cross-training opportunities within the Production Department.
  • Set up and conduct test runs of completed machines, utilizing fixed test cycles to assess performance.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor and Plant Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Technical school degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, with at least one year of experience in mechanical assembly or a related field.
  • Ability to interpret structural drawings, schematics, and operating manuals.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Proficient in performing calculations involving percentages, ratios, and fractions.
  • Basic computer skills and adaptability to various software applications.
  • Understanding of air and gas compressors, generators, and basic manufacturing tools.
  • Effective communication skills for information exchange, both orally and in writing.
  • U.S. Citizenship or qualified U.S. Person status may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced coursework in mechanical assembly disciplines, with specific experience in air and gas compressor manufacturing.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment

This position regularly involves:
  • Work in manufacturing, warehouse, and office settings.
  • Proximity to moving equipment and mechanical parts, necessitating adherence to safe operating procedures.
  • Potential exposure to loud noises, fumes, and/or hazardous materials.
Physical Abilities Required:
  • Capability to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch, reach, and lift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds consistently.
  • Capacity to sit or stand for extended periods, whether at a desk or while operating machinery.
