Essential duties include:
- Operate machinery as instructed by supervisors or leads to produce components per specifications, which may include:
- Hardware assembly
- Spot welding
- Riveting
- General assembly tasks
- Ensure first articles are approved by qualified personnel
- Regularly inspect parts for precision
- Monitor machinery during operation to identify defects or malfunctions
- Maintain accurate production counts
- Achieve efficient production timelines
- Document all tasks accurately in collaboration with Quality Assurance
- Record clock-in and clock-out times correctly
- Prepare components for subsequent processes
- Communicate effectively and promptly with supervisors and colleagues
- Report any material or mechanical issues to leads
- Be available for overtime as required
- Adhere to ISO 9001 standards as outlined in the Quality Manual
- Actively participate in Lean initiatives

REPORTS TO: Sheet Metal Supervisor
WORKS WITH: B & J team members
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:Comply with all OSHA safety regulations and those established by B & J Industries LLC.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:Essential:
- Basic arithmetic skills: ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
- Ability to comprehend and follow detailed verbal instructions
- Capability to read and interpret shop orders, policies, and procedures
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks
- Proficiency in operating machinery across various departments
- Manual dexterity
- Must possess personal tools within 90 days
Beneficial:
- High school diploma with relevant vocational training (e.g., sheet metal work)
- Experience in a manufacturing setting
- Ability to conduct basic setups in multiple departments
- Ability to read technical drawings
- Familiarity with precision measuring tools
- Proficiency in creating spreadsheets and graphs using Excel or similar software
- Ability to generate and organize work documentation
- Additional mathematical skills in algebra, geometry, and/or trigonometry
Job involves sitting (22%), standing (60%), walking (2%), bending (2%), squatting (2%), lifting (4%), twisting (2%), kneeling (1%), reaching above shoulder (1%), climbing (2%), driving (1%), and pushing/pulling (1%).
Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds regularly. Normal vision (with or without corrective lenses) and hearing (with or without aids) are required.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:Shop environment with moderate noise levels and exposure to dust, heat, and cold.
This position requires drug testing in accordance with company policy.
