The Geotechnical Analyst is a pivotal role focused on conducting geological assessments and preparing geologic materials that support strategic advisory services for financial transactions, particularly in collaboration with the Institutional Banking division. The primary aim of this position is to produce high-caliber geological evaluations and mapping resources that can be effectively communicated to clients and stakeholders as part of Citigroup's advisory offerings for energy sector clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct technical assessments of oil and gas properties across various sectors including Upstream, Midstream, and Downstream, while leading or supporting geological functions on designated projects.
  • Engage in comprehensive geological tasks such as regional basin mapping, landing zone evaluations, and the creation of pertinent subsurface maps and cross-sections.
  • Oversee mapping initiatives for the technical team, including operator acreage maps, rig activity charts, and well activity diagrams.
  • Assist in evaluating the remaining inventory potential for upstream properties.
  • Develop presentation materials for pre-marketing documents and data room showcases utilizing both private and public data sources.
  • Organize virtual data rooms based on information provided by clients.
  • Evaluate risks associated with business decisions, ensuring a strong emphasis on the firm's reputation and the protection of Citigroup, its clients, and assets by adhering to relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies, while exercising sound ethical judgment in all business practices.
Qualifications:
  • 4-8 years of relevant experience in the oil and gas sector or in acquisition and divestiture banking.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Geographix, Petra, Petrel, or Kingdom; familiarity with Spotfire, ArcGIS, and other geospatial or analytical tools is advantageous.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Demonstrated capability to assess technical risks in economic evaluations.
  • Proven track record of managing multiple concurrent projects in a high-stakes environment.
  • Consistently exhibits clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong influencing and relationship management abilities.
  • Highly motivated individual with the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced setting.
  • Interest in expanding knowledge of energy finance, economics, and capital markets.
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
