Job Summary:
The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) plays a vital role in providing support and care to clients in our Women's Residential Treatment program. As a BHT, you will be responsible for monitoring client behavior, implementing daily schedules, and ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Monitor client behavior and report any concerns to the appropriate authority.
- Provide positive reinforcement and support to clients, utilizing approved behavior modification techniques.
- Conduct and participate in basic life skills activities, such as processing admissions and discharges.
- Complete required program documentation and reports, including daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
- Document clients' activities, behavior patterns, and changes in behavior patterns.
- Ensure clients adhere to established schedules and routines.
- Collect urine specimens and complete paperwork and/or laboratory paperwork, if required.
- Conduct security/safety checks, monitor visitors/clients for contraband, and remove dangerous items.
- Perform general office and public contact duties, such as answering telephones and greeting visitors.
- Participate in meetings and converse with staff on client progress or lack of progress.
- Perform general cleaning responsibilities and attend training/in-services as required.
- Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Six months of related human services experience preferred.
- Preference will be given to those who are certified as Behavioral Health Technicians.
- Ability to utilize behavior management techniques and serve as a role model.
- Ability to handle verbally and/or physically abusive and aggressive clients and utilize aggression control techniques.
- Ability to communicate effectively with suicidal, mentally, emotionally, and/or psychologically disturbed clients.
- Ability to defuse potentially dangerous situations and remain calm in an emergency.
- Ability to understand and implement The Mandt System.
- Mobility and ability to bend and reach during an 8-12 hour day.
- Able to lift minimum 10 pounds.
- Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to evaluate, intervene, treat, and record client health care needs.
- Fine motor skills for legible and accurate charting, daily correspondence, and presentation.
