Event Service Attendant

Join the Kahala Ohana at our distinguished luxury hotel and resort, located amidst the tranquil ambiance of soft waves on a pristine beach and a renowned private golf course. As an Event Service Attendant, you will be responsible for serving meals and beverages to guests in accordance with established etiquette standards, tailored to the nature of the event, while maintaining a friendly, courteous, and professional demeanor that aligns with The Kahala Hotel & Resort's quality standards. You will ensure a clean and appealing service area and perform essential tasks that contribute to excellent service. Responsibilities may include taking orders for food and drinks, adhering to liquor laws, setting up tables for functions, and cleaning up after events.

Position Requirements

Essential Functions:
  • Deliver food and beverages as per the Banquet Captain's expectations and the Event Order to maintain consistency throughout the event. Efficiently clear dishes as guests finish each course and at the conclusion of the meal or function.
  • Prepare place settings and condiments for upcoming events, including folding napkins and replenishing necessary items.
  • Set up the banquet area as directed by the Banquet Captain, ensuring proper arrangement of linens, silverware, china, and glassware. Cover and skirt all food and reception tables for events.
  • Introduce yourself to guests and respond to their requests in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Replenish beverages as needed and check in with guests to ensure their satisfaction.
  • Attend pre-event meetings to understand specific details regarding guest and hotel expectations.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Report any suspicious activities or unsafe conditions to the Security Department.
  • Provide guidance for guest and employee safety during emergencies.
  • Assist guests with inquiries and provide directions or information as needed in public areas.
  • Comply with all liquor regulations regarding service to minors and intoxicated guests.
  • Maintain cleanliness in all work areas, ensuring proper storage and cleanliness of equipment.
  • Perform various other duties as assigned.
Education/Training Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma preferred.
Experience/Skill Requirements:
  • Minimum of six (6) months experience in food and beverage service required.
  • Previous experience in banquet service is preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:
  • Certification of tuberculosis clearance is required.
  • CPR and Standard First Aid Certification preferred.
  • Honolulu Liquor Commission (yellow) Card is required.
Mental Capacity & Organizational Skill Requirements:
  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, and guest relations.
  • Understanding of appropriate table settings and service ware.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply written instructions for safe product usage.
  • Capacity to remember and promote menu items effectively.
  • Skill in operating beverage equipment, such as coffee makers.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to recognize when additional supplies are needed while completing current tasks.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and professionalism in interactions with guests and colleagues.
  • Experience in sorting and organizing glassware, chinaware, and utensils.
Communication Requirements:
  • Basic knowledge of English sufficient to understand customer inquiries and communicate simple instructions.
