A respiratory care specialist at RWJBarnabas Health is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care under the supervision of physicians. Key responsibilities include administering medications, performing therapy, assessing patient status, and maintaining accurate patient records. To succeed in this role, a respiratory care specialist should possess a NJ Respiratory License, BLS certification, and CRT, RRT certification within one year of hire.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer medication and perform therapy as prescribed by physicians
  • Conduct patient rounds and deliver exceptional patient care
  • Evaluate therapy orders and make recommendations for improvement
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
  • Operate oxygen therapy, BiPAP, CPAP, and HFNC devices
  • Administer invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation
  • Comply with department and safety policies
  • Perform emergency airway care procedures

Qualifications:

  • NJ Respiratory License
  • BLS certification
  • CRT, RRT certification within 1 year of hire
  • Preferred: 2-3 years of experience and certifications in ACLS, PALS, and NRP
