Job Summary
The Project Construction Manager (natural gas pipeline and facilities development) supports the Project Manager in orchestrating all facets of construction initiatives, ensuring skilled oversight over the execution processes essential for constructing and commissioning high-quality facilities safely, punctually, and within budgetary constraints.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborates with Project Manager(s) in strategizing all dimensions of various construction projects.
- Acts as the Field Lead to finalize project scope, estimated costs, and timelines.
- Provides expert supervision of multiple inspection teams while coordinating efforts among company personnel and contractors.
- Guarantees project completion adheres to the company's financial and scheduling standards through effective planning, schedule monitoring, and contractor management.
- Works closely with Project Manager(s) to solidify project scope, conduct necessary field assessments, and coordinate construction timelines along with preliminary designs of proposed facilities.
- Assists in environmental compliance activities.
- Participates in daily preparation and safety meetings with contractors.
- Completes daily Progress Reports.
- Aids the Project Team with Work Order and Completion Report tasks, acting as the responsible person for ensuring timely and accurate completion of drawings.
- Reviews and approves invoices in accordance with company policies and the Manual of Approvals.
- Coordinates facility outage schedules with Gas Control and maintains regular communication regarding any schedule changes.
- Serves as the company's representative for all interactions with community members, government entities, property owners, contractors, and vendors.
- Oversees on-site inspections and tours conducted by regulatory bodies and clients.
- Provides guidance and direction to third-party inspectors.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Engineering, Natural Gas Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience of five or more years in project supervision may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and exhibit self-motivation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access, etc.).
- Capable of performing arithmetic and algebraic calculations and basic accounting tasks.
- Ability to deliver oral and written updates on project status, analyze project schedules and costs, and interpret technical reports and drawings.
- Effectively manages external resources.
- Must be able to process information and make decisions with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills are essential.
- Ability to identify and assess risks, hazards, and conflicts between activities.
- Demonstrates understanding and support of company initiatives and direction.
- Actively seeks and identifies opportunities for continuous improvement; champions their implementation.
- Office work constitutes 30% of the role, with 70% in the field and other locations; outdoor work in various weather conditions is required. Hazards typical of construction sites and travel may be present.
- A motor vehicle record check is mandatory.
- Overnight travel for extended periods is necessary.
- Overtime may be required.
- Must be able to work in challenging construction environments, including steep and uneven terrain.
- CWI or AMPP certification is preferred.
