Electrical Controls Systems Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Controls Systems Specialist to join our team at Randstad. As an Electrical Controls Systems Specialist, you will be responsible for performing hands-on installation support for new or modified production equipment, supervising internal maintenance and outside contract trades during all aspects of equipment installation and conversion, and performing hands-on troubleshooting, process start-up, design, and documentation of Electrical and Controls Systems for new or modified production equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute initial equipment set-up and debug up to the point of turnover to operations.
  • Provide second-level troubleshooting support, replacing or directing trades as necessary to replace defective components and execute changes in design to solve equipment/process issues.
  • Procure and expedite materials for new or modified equipment.
  • Assist in developing electrical installation checklists and schedules. Oversee, as appropriate, the usage of these systems.
  • Prepare work orders and direct maintenance personnel and/or outside contract trades in the fabrication, assembly, testing, and installation of equipment.
  • Review and update installation documentation and drawings as required.
  • Understand the use and set-up of machine controls for digital and analog I/O.
  • Redline existing schematics and follow-up with drafting services or oversee draftsmen as required to resolve design issues.
  • Provide training to internal maintenance, and outside contract trades on new equipment installation procedures as required for successful execution of installation activities.
  • Analyze and correct equipment installation practices to improve efficiencies, specifically directed toward enhancing installation schedules.

Requirements:

  • AAS Electrical Engineering Technology, BS Electrical Engineering Technology, or BS Electrical Engineering (Equivalent work experience may be considered in rare circumstances.)
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, able to handle multiple priorities, and work well with varied job requirements.
  • Strong practical hands-on aptitude, electro-mechanical troubleshooting ability, proficient with electrical schematics, motion control knowledge, process variable understanding, and thorough understanding of current loops.
  • Experience with Windows, MS Office suite, AutoCAD 2023, AutoCAD Electrical 2023, PLC and PC based systems, Allen-Bradley PLC, Beckhoff PLC / Motion Control, B-R Control, Fanuc Robotics, C++, Visual Basic, IFix, and Automated equipment systems.

  • Windows, MS Office suite, AutoCAD 2023, AutoCAD Electrical 2023, PLC and PC based systems, Allen-Bradley PLC, Beckhoff PLC / Motion Control, B-R Control, Fanuc Robotics, C++, Visual Basic, IFix, and Automated equipment systems.
  • Fluke Meters, Oscilloscopes, and other electronic test equipment, electronic calibration equipment, precision flow calibration equipment, Programmable Controllers, and equipment used for machine installation activities.
