Job Summary

The Senior Director of Development is a key fundraising professional responsible for managing a portfolio of high-potential donors, including alumni, parents, and friends, to secure major gifts for Ithaca College.

This role involves prospect management, including discovery, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors, with a focus on building long-term relationships and leveraging college leaders to secure support for strategic priorities.

The Senior Director will work closely with the Associate Vice President of Philanthropy to establish prospect management goals, develop and implement creative solicitation strategies, and promote gift planning and deferred gift vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects, including developing annual work plans and establishing prospect management goals.
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with donors, leveraging college leaders to secure support for strategic priorities.
  • Develop and implement creative solicitation strategies, including proposals, gift agreements, and stewardship reports.
  • Work with Donor Relations to identify and confirm donors, and oversee the preparation of proposals and gift agreements.
  • Support the work of the Associate Vice President of Development and Vice President for Advancement, and contribute to the development of a multicultural awareness and inclusive work environment.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and ten years of experience in educational fundraising or a related field, with a strong ability to develop sincere, productive relationships and build trust with internal colleagues and external constituencies.

They will also have clear and effective written and oral communication and presentation skills, including individual and large groups, and a keen sense of requirements necessary to foster a team-centric culture and environment.
