The Systems Administrator is responsible for the implementation, troubleshooting, and upkeep of Information Technology (IT) systems. This role involves managing IT system infrastructure and overseeing processes related to these systems. The administrator will support IT systems through daily operations, monitoring, and resolving issues for all client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, and more. This position encompasses Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) support, identifying, diagnosing, and resolving problems. Additionally, the administrator will facilitate the escalation and communication of status updates to agency management and internal stakeholders. Responsibilities also include managing the dispatch system and addressing hardware issues while remaining engaged in the resolution process. The role requires configuring and managing UNIX and Windows operating systems, installing and loading operating system software, troubleshooting, maintaining system integrity, and configuring network components to enhance reliability and performance.

Essential Qualifications

The Level II Systems Administrator should demonstrate the following skills:

  • Support the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems
  • Oversee daily configuration and operational activities of IT systems
  • Provide Tier I (Help Desk) problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution
  • Assist users in accessing and utilizing IT systems
  • Support IT systems through daily operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for all devices
  • Facilitate Tier I (Help Desk) and Tier II (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution
  • Assist in the escalation and communication of status updates to management and internal customers
  • Optimize system operations and resource utilization, conducting system capacity analysis and planning
  • Support the dispatch system and hardware issues, remaining engaged in the resolution process
  • Possess in-depth experience in troubleshooting IT systems
  • Configure and manage UNIX and Windows operating systems, install/load operating system software, troubleshoot, maintain integrity, and configure network components while implementing enhancements for reliability and performance
  • Provide detailed analysis and feedback to management and internal customers for escalated tickets
Education and Certification Requirements

A minimum of ten (10) years of experience as a Systems Administrator in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required. A Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited institution is also required. Alternatively, five (5) years of additional Systems Administrator experience on projects with similar software processes may substitute for a bachelor's degree.
