Job Title: Health, Safety, and Nutrition Specialist

Bauer Family Resources is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Health, Safety, and Nutrition Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of children and families in our community.

Job Summary:

The Health, Safety, and Nutrition Specialist will be responsible for implementing comprehensive health and safety services, as well as supporting the execution of nutrition services. This includes regular collaboration with program staff, families, community health and safety services, and monitoring of health, safety, and nutrition services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure timely completion of student hearing and vision screenings, as well as communication of results with families
  • Ensure compliance with completion and documentation of children's medical and dental examinations and records
  • Coordinate internal and external health referral processes
  • Ensure adequate program preparation for children with identified health needs
  • Collaborate with families and program staff to develop Individual Health Plans (IHP) when appropriate
  • Collaborate with community to enhance program services
  • Monitor accident reports, facility safety, emergency preparedness, and preventative health practices
  • Monitor student nutrition through growth assessments
  • Monitor nutritional services according to CACFP requirements
  • Ensure adequate training and monitoring of Family Style Dining practices
  • Complete monthly reports, documentation, and food procurement
  • Ensure compliance with Bauer Policies, State Licensing, and Head Start Program Performance Standards, and Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)
  • Attend monthly staff meetings, monthly Professional Development Days, quarterly All-Agency meetings, and annual Pre-Service
Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in health services, nursing, nutrition, or other related field, preferred
  • Previous Head Start experience, preferred
  • Valid driver's license, is required
  • Serve Safe Managers Certification (not required upon hire but to be acquired within 6 months of hire)
