Job Summary:

As a Shift Supervisor, Hospital Administration, you will oversee nursing and hospital operations on assigned shifts, ensuring seamless patient flow and efficient resource allocation. You will coordinate patient bed placement, supervise staff placement, and manage activities to minimize diversions, delays, or denials of patients. In the absence of regular hospital administration, you will serve as the on-site administrative representative.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct and manage hospital operations on assigned shifts to ensure appropriate patient care and meet patient/family needs.
  • Round on patient units to identify placement needs, available beds, and staff capacity, communicating with Charge Nurses and other stakeholders to review current patients, identify pending/potential discharges, and determine capacity for admissions.
  • Collaborate with Unit Managers, Regional Telephonic Medical Center, Surgical Services, and other departments to prioritize and place patients effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policy and procedures, regulatory requirements, and financial/economic principles.
  • Anticipate potential problems, intervene to minimize adverse impact, and manage conflicts that arise.
  • Act as a clinical resource for nursing, interpreting policies and procedures, and assisting with clinical practice issues.
  • Support performance improvement activities and assist departmental staff in responding to patient/family questions, concerns, or complaints.
Requirements:
  • Minimum one year of leadership experience in the healthcare field.
  • Minimum three years of acute care nursing practice.
  • BSN or health-related bachelor's degree, or currently enrolled in a BSN or health-related bachelor's degree program with completion date within three years, or an Associate's degree plus three years of experience in a directly related field.
  • Registered Nurse License (in the state where care is provided) and Basic Life Support certification.
