Communication Specialist

Franklin Community Schools is seeking a skilled Communication Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting students with speech and language disorders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the case conference committee to identify areas of need for students with speech and language disorders.
- Provide consultative and direct services to ensure staff are aware of development needs and make appropriate recommendations.
Purpose:
The Communication Specialist will provide diagnostic and intervention services for students with speech, language, and/or voice disorders in cooperation with district supervisors, teachers, parents, and students.
Preferred Experience:
A Speech-Language Pathologist with experience in basic computer operations, including Word, spreadsheets, internet use, and data management, as well as experience in the school setting.
Qualifications:
- Hold a valid license from the Indiana Department of Education, Division of Professional Standards, and the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency (IPLA).
- Certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) is preferred but not required.
Essential Functions:
- Utilize current and comprehensive content/specialty area knowledge for planning.
- Maintain a therapy space that is well organized and materials are available when needed.
- Implement appropriate progress monitoring procedures.
Estimated Salary:$60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.
This position requires an active driver's license, a reliable vehicle, and willingness to travel locally. The work environment is fast-paced with minimal to high noise levels. Contract hours align with school hours in the assigned building(s).
