Overview:

NR Consulting is seeking a dedicated engineer to engage in a full-time capacity at a field office situated near Richmond, VA, focusing on a significant, multi-year remediation initiative.

This project involves an energy site with coal ash ponds undergoing cleanup, located in proximity to a water source. The selected candidate will be responsible for supervising all contractors and making critical decisions in the field. Exceptional communication skills are essential.


Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates must possess a degree in civil, environmental, or geotechnical engineering and have hands-on experience working in the field alongside contractors and stakeholders.


Skills and Experience:

- A minimum of a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; an M.S. degree in Geotechnical Engineering is preferred.

- At least 5 years of relevant professional consulting experience, including on-site construction oversight and familiarity with excavation, construction dewatering, temporary excavation support systems, coal combustion residuals (coal ash), and slope stability assessments.

- Proficiency in geotechnical instrumentation programs and related ground movement studies, including monitoring ground movements due to construction activities, establishing threshold criteria, reviewing monitoring data, and effectively communicating results with contractors and project owners.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- A positive attitude, robust work ethic, adaptability, and a commitment to seeing projects through to completion are crucial.

- Candidates should have or be in the process of obtaining professional certification in their core discipline, such as EIT or PE, where applicable.

- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office software, data management, and programming.

- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel to job sites and the office are required, along with a willingness to travel for temporary assignments across the U.S.

- OSHA 40-hr. HAZWOPER and OSHA 10-hr. Construction Site Safety training are preferred.
