Assistant Project Manager for Commercial and Special Projects

Salary:
$80,000 - $110,000 per year

Job Responsibilities:
  • Preconstruction and Estimating:
    Engage in post-bid processes, buyout, and verify prequalification and CCIP requirements, along with coordination, subcontractor management, staffing, and scheduling meetings.
  • Production and Operations:
    Support the Superintendent and Project Manager in developing the construction plan.
    Update schedules as necessary per contract requirements or Project Manager directives.
    Assist with short-term scheduling by confirming manpower, material deliveries, and supplier availability.
  • Change Management:
    Prepare and negotiate change proposals, initiate change orders with the approval of the Project Manager or Project Director, and issue change orders to subcontractors and others.
  • Cost Tracking:
    Assist the Project Manager and Construction Manager in tracking Cost Events and preparing contract billing by gathering subcontractor and supplier invoices.
  • Documentation:
    Maintain logs for tracking shop drawings, submittals, requests for information, change orders, and material deliveries.
  • Safety Reviews:
    Conduct monthly site safety assessments and communicate findings to the Project Manager and Superintendent.

Qualifications:
  • Preferred 4-year degree in a construction-related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of three years of experience as a Project Engineer or Field Engineer.
  • Demonstrated skills in scheduling, procurement, budget management, financial reporting, and client relations.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting contract documents, drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
  • Familiarity with PC-based scheduling and spreadsheet applications (e.g., Primavera, Procore, Excel).
  • OSHA 30-Hour certification is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • LEED certification is a plus.
