Staff Psychiatrist, Correctional and Rehab Services

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Psychiatrist to join our team at the California Institution for Women. As a Staff Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for providing psychiatric services to inmates, including evaluations, treatment planning, and medication management. You will also be expected to provide consultation and training to other staff members on mental health topics.
Key Responsibilities- Provide psychiatric evaluations and treatment planning for inmates
- Prescribe and manage medications for inmates
- Provide consultation and training to other staff members on mental health topics
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to inmates
- Document patient information and treatment plans in accordance with departmental policies
- Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree from an accredited medical school
- Current licensure to practice medicine in California
- Board certification in psychiatry from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) or the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry (AOBNP)
- Experience working in a correctional setting, preferably in a psychiatric role
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
- Experience working with diverse populations, including those with mental health diagnoses
- Knowledge of correctional healthcare policies and procedures
- Ability to speak multiple languages, including Spanish
