Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Huntsville Hospital Health System. As a Nurse Practitioner, you will provide comprehensive direct patient care and scholarly practice, including obtaining comprehensive patient histories, performing complete physical examinations, ordering and performing diagnostic testing and screening, diagnosing illness, prescribing both pharmacological and other treatments for patients, and providing health maintenance and promotion interventions such as patient and family education and counseling.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care and scholarly practice in a fast-paced OB-GYN setting
  • Obtain comprehensive patient histories and perform complete physical examinations
  • Order and perform diagnostic testing and screening as needed
  • Diagnose illness and prescribe both pharmacological and other treatments for patients
  • Provide health maintenance and promotion interventions such as patient and family education and counseling
  • Assume accountability for indirect care responsibilities, including staff and student education, clinical research, program development, and quality improvement
Requirements
  • Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited college or university
  • Board Certification completion as Nurse Practitioner in appropriate specialty area
  • State license in good standing in the State of Alabama through the Alabama Board of Nursing
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support / Advanced Cardiac Life Support certifications
  • Stroke Certification as assigned by immediate supervisor
  • Basic Fetal Monitoring Course through Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) within 6 months of hire date
  • Advanced Fetal Monitoring Course through Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) within 1 year of hire date
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner in a direct clinical setting
