A postdoctoral research opportunity is currently available in the laboratory of Dr. Chandra Bartholomeusz within the Department of Breast Medical Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
The research team is dedicated to investigating growth factor signaling pathways related to breast cancer metastasis. The focus includes the creation of innovative therapeutic agents through both in vitro and in vivo models, specifically targeting triple-negative and inflammatory breast cancer. Additionally, the lab conducts translational research aimed at integrating pre-clinical findings into clinical applications for breast cancer patients.
Training Objectives
The selected candidate will engage in a thorough training program in biomedical research, designed to cultivate the skills necessary for becoming an independent researcher. The postdoctoral fellow will also gain experience in drafting grant proposals in collaboration with the Principal Investigator.
Candidate Qualifications
Applicants must possess a recent PhD or MD/PhD in biomedical sciences, along with a minimum of two first-authored publications in reputable, peer-reviewed scientific journals in areas such as cancer biology, molecular biology, or cell biology.
Essential skills include proficiency in cell and tissue culture, fundamental techniques in molecular and cancer biology, and multiplex immunofluorescence data analysis. A readiness to work with live animal models is also required. Prior experience with in vivo procedures, including surgical techniques and various methods of administration, is highly desirable.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate self-motivation, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team. Strong critical thinking, communication, organizational, and writing skills are essential, along with excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
