As a prominent nonprofit, acute, tertiary, teaching Level I trauma center, our 886-bed hospital is situated in the vibrant heart of Los Angeles. The Pharmacy Department comprises over 450 dedicated staff members who deliver comprehensive inpatient pharmacy services alongside outpatient services through two cancer centers, outpatient pharmacies, and ambulatory care clinics.

The full-time Pediatric Clinical Pharmacist at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center will oversee the daily organization and management of medication activities within their designated areas. This includes, but is not limited to, providing clinical and drug distribution services, as well as fulfilling additional responsibilities as assigned.

This role requires a commitment to a 10-hour work schedule with rotating shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends.

Qualifications

Educational Background:
  • Pharm.D. or equivalent degree from an accredited pharmacy school in the United States.
  • Completion of a PGY1 and/or PGY2 residency or equivalent practical experience.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
  • Current pharmacist licensure in the State of California.
  • BLS certification as specified in the Pharmacist Responsibilities in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (C.P.R.) and Code Blue Procedure: Pharmacy Policy and Procedure.
Additional Skills and Qualifications:
  • Completion of a PGY1 and/or PGY2 residency or equivalent practice experience is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of medical terminology related to drug usage.
  • Thorough understanding of common disease states and pathologies.
  • Ability to interpret patient medical management plans.
  • Capability to assess and apply current pharmacological and biopharmaceutical principles for the selection and use of drug products in a clinical environment.
  • Skill in extracting relevant information from patients or other sources and relating it to the patient care plan.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary for fulfilling pharmacist responsibilities.
  • Aptitude for teaching and serving as a preceptor for training programs.
  • Competence in preparing medications for immediate administration.
  • Ability to provide recommendations and monitor drug utilization.
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, and standards pertaining to pharmacy practice.
  • Flexibility to adapt to change.
  • Strong prioritization skills for workflow management.
  • Ability to evaluate medication regimens to meet the therapeutic needs of patients.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to automated information systems in daily practice.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in pharmaceutical calculations, compounding, and pharmacokinetics.
  • Patient-centered communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills necessary for job functions.
  • Exceptions may be approved by the Chief Pharmacy Officer or designee.
