Compensation: $17.50-$20.50/hourly (Part-time)

Washington Yu Ying's REEF program is on the lookout for dynamic, energetic, and creative individuals who aim to positively influence the lives of children.

Washington Yu Ying's aftercare initiative, REEF, seeks motivated and innovative support staff to enhance our program. This rewarding role involves nurturing the intellectual growth of children in the REEF program, engaging with them daily, and building trusting, caring relationships with students, families, and educators. This position serves as an excellent entry point into the field of childhood development.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the coordination of before and aftercare (REEF) programs for designated classrooms.
  • Support the successful execution of daily activities organized by Lead Teachers.
  • Lead classroom activities multiple times each week.
  • Monitor student behavior to encourage growth and progress, and communicate positive feedback to parents.
  • Enhance student engagement in planned activities through positivity and encouragement.
  • Develop creative methods for teaching and challenge yourself to lead your own activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to effectively engage and educate students.
  • Facilitate and lead activities designed by lead teachers in their absence, consulting with the REEF Team Lead or Manager as needed.
  • Anticipate the needs of teachers and students to ensure smooth activity execution, working cooperatively with team members to achieve objectives.
  • Supervise and ensure student safety during aftercare activities on campus and during field trips as required.
  • Ensure full student engagement in REEF classes during each session.
  • Assist in supervising transitions between classes and group play.
  • Help supervise students during monthly field trips, ensuring safe transitions.
  • Support Lead Teachers in maintaining cleanliness and organization of materials used during REEF programs.
  • Ensure Lead Teachers have the necessary materials for their classes each day.
  • Assist with additional REEF operational tasks as needed.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Warm and approachable demeanor; ability to connect well with children and staff.
  • Experience with before-and-aftercare program management is advantageous.
  • Basic technology skills required, including proficiency in Google Suite, particularly GMail. Familiarity with Mac systems is preferred.
  • Self-motivated with strong time management skills, capable of working independently, and possessing proactive problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong motivational capabilities.

Terms of Employment: 10 Months

Working Environment: In-school. The role is based on-site and will expand to include another campus, resulting in interaction with students, parents, and staff.
