Job Summary:

The Senior Controller is a key member of the senior management team at Pacific Building Group, responsible for overseeing all financial and business matters. This includes ensuring timely reporting and transparent profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the accounting team and create policies, procedures, and processes to maximize efficiency.
  • Provide accurate monthly and annual company financial statements, reviewing them with the Executive team and offering strategic guidance on increasing profitability.
  • Maintain the Work in Progress (WIP) report and supervise accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll.
  • Manage company accounting policies, updating financial, operational, purchasing, and other policies to improve efficiency and simplify the business.
  • Work with the IT manager to optimize software and infrastructure to support office and field operations.
  • Prepare annual budgets with department directors and maintain the fixed asset reporting module in Sage 300.

Insurance Responsibilities:

  • Report and monitor active Worker's Compensation claims with the Safety Manager and act as the company lead on quarterly insurance claim update conference calls with the carrier.
  • Lead annual insurance renewals, working with brokers to negotiate the best policy.
  • Act as the main point of contact for General Liability claims filed with insurance carriers and work with carriers to ensure correct coverage for unique projects.

Requirements:

  • Excellent financial and analytical skills, including proficiency with spreadsheets.
  • Strong job costing experience and knowledge of construction and prior financial management experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to interface with internal teammates, vendors, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Experience with Sage 300 (formerly Timberline) and Procore is highly desirable.
