We're seeking a student employee to fill the role of Shelter Assistant for The Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire in Bedford, NH. The Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire helps over 2000 animals a year, and our shelter is a stopping point for our animals. We work hard to keep them happy and stress-free.

As a Shelter Assistant, you'll assist shelter staff in the day-to-day care of our animals. This includes daily shelter tasks, cleaning, and animal care activities during morning hours. You'll also assist with animal care and closing the building during evening hours.

Responsibilities:

  • Daily shelter tasks, cleaning, and animal care activities during morning hours.
  • Assist with animal care and closing the building during evening hours.
  • Animal care related tasks include but are not limited to feeding the animals, cleaning kennels, laundry, organizing, and sorting donations.
  • Other tasks can also be assigned by ARLNH staff.

Requirements:

  • Current enrollment in classes as part of a SNHU degree program.
  • Work study part of financial aid package.
  • Students with work study may be prioritized.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Must be comfortable with interacting with animals and on occasion the public.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Will learn day-to-day care of many different animals, learn organizational skills, effective communication, work independently, and with a team.

Work Schedule:

Flexible schedule, daily between shelter hours (8am-5pm). We believe real innovation comes from inclusion - where different experiences, perspectives, and talents are celebrated.

The hourly pay range for this position is $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience, and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
