Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner to join our team at the University of Maryland Faculty Physicians. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide primary care and immediate care services to patients at our University Family Medicine and Campus Health locations.

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive history and physical assessments for patients, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests as needed.
  • Establish medical diagnoses based on history, assessment, and diagnostic findings, collaborating with physicians as needed.
  • Design and implement treatment plans, including prescriptions, based on a comprehensive review of patient data.
  • Collaborate with attending physicians, residents, and other healthcare team members to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities, quality assurance, and clinical leadership initiatives to drive exceptional patient outcomes.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research, evidence-based practices, and industry best practices to advance patient care delivery.
Requirements
  • Master of Science degree in Nursing with completion of a Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Registered and currently recorded with the Maryland Board of Examiners of Nurses and Certified as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland.
  • Valid state APRN Recognition, with education requirements met and obtained within six months of hire.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and BLS certification by the American Heart Association.
  • DEA and CDS eligibility.
  • A minimum of one year experience as a Registered Nurse, with preference given to those with experience in Family Medicine.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote professionalism through involvement in professional organizations, teaching, research, publishing, and/or certification in area of specialty.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population(s) served, with ability to assess data reflective of patient requirements relative to their population-specific and age-specific needs.
  • Demonstrated highly effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with patient families, departmental units, medical and nursing staff on all essential matters.
  • Maintains updated mandatory training and updates immunizations as recommended per practice area.

  • Demonstrated experience in clinical leadership, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives.
  • Knowledge of research principles and evidence-based practice standards.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
