About the Role:

Takeda Pharmaceutical is seeking a highly skilled Senior Staff Engineer, Modeling to join our Advanced Technologies Group within Biologics Process and Product Development. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and optimizing biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes using advanced modeling and simulation techniques.

As a Senior Staff Engineer, Modeling, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement process models that enhance process understanding, predictability, and control. You will also collaborate with internal and external partners to identify and implement innovative strategies for process development and optimization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and apply advanced modeling and simulation techniques to optimize biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement process models that enhance process understanding, predictability, and control.
  • Work with internal and external partners to identify and implement innovative strategies for process development and optimization.
  • Perform multivariate process trending analysis to support development and optimization of manufacturing processes for biopharmaceuticals and bioconjugates.
  • Model impact of innovative strategies on existing and new manufacturing processes.
  • Apply modeling approaches to process development, including model transfer learning.
  • Provide modeling support for biopharmaceutical process characterization activities in preparation for process validation.
  • Evaluate process and cost modeling software applications for use in biopharmaceutical development.
  • Collaborate with internal and external groups to advance process development and optimization.
Requirements:
  • Ph.D. degree or M.S. degree in biochemical engineering, biotechnology, or closely related fields with 3+ years (Ph.D.) or 9+ years (M.S.) of experience in modeling and bioprocess development.
  • Hands-on experience in process modeling applications, such as gProms, GoSilico, BioSolve, SIMCA, etc.
  • Additional hands-on and lab-based process and/or high-throughput development experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with cGMPs for biopharmaceuticals and regulatory submissions.
  • Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team.
  • High communication skills, excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Programming skills, such as Matlab, Python.
  • Ability to present findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments.
  • Teamwork skills for working in a diverse, global environment.
  • Willingness to stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies.
