Join Our Team as an Emergency Veterinarian

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Emergency Veterinarian to join our team at The Applied Companies. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide immediate medical care to animals in crisis situations.

About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a new vet or someone looking to make a move to the Lake Tahoe region for a work-life balance. Our mentorship program is available for new graduates of AVMA accredited schools, and we offer relocation money and a signing bonus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and diagnose urgent medical conditions
  • Perform emergency surgical procedures
  • Prescribe medication and stabilize patients
  • Examine animals to detect and determine the nature of diseases or injuries
  • Treat sick or injured animals by prescribing medication, dressing wounds, performing surgery, or other therapies
  • Collect body tissue, feces, blood, urine, or other body fluids for examination and analysis
  • Perform laboratory procedures and diagnostic tests
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and interpret images
  • Administer anesthetics and monitor patients during surgery and recovery
  • Follow discharge guidelines and treatment plan guidelines
  • Address client concerns and provide education on animal care and treatment
  • Educate the public about diseases that can be spread from animals to humans
  • Humanely euthanize animals when mutually agreed upon by the patient's owner
  • Document actions and train team members
  • Deal with clients and employees in a professional manner
Qualifications
  • Valid and in good standing licensed veterinarian within the state of Nevada or ability to become licensed
  • Graduate of an American Veterinary Medical Association program required
  • Nevada State Board of Pharmacy controlled substance license, dispensing license, and DEA licenses or ability to obtain these licenses
  • Knowledge of emergency veterinary medicine and science
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and write reports
  • Knowledge of veterinary instruments, materials, and equipment
  • Biology, medicine, client and personal service, mathematics, chemistry, and communication skills
